Cassandra and Ella quickly re-packed each other's bags, grabbed some supplies and left the safe-house within the hour. Tychus, disbelieving what Sarabel's testimony, quickly followed the girls out.
"Where're we gonna go?" Ella asked glumly. Cassandra sighed and shook her head slowly.
"Shouldn't have we waited for one of the adults to come back?" Questioned Ella.
"They won't be able to help," replied Cassandra, still looking at the ground "and I want to get as far away from that festering cesspit as possible."
"Damn, you're pissed today." Commented Ella, heaving the bag strap on to her shoulder. Cassandra faced Ella.
"'Course I'm pissed!" She snapped "Your brother cheated on me with that angel, then she gets us kicked out and nobody would listen to our side of the story! I think anybody would be pissed!" Ella opened her mouth a little but quickly shut it, knowing that it was better if she didn't further inflame Cassandra.
A few minutes later, they arrived at the grove Cassandra had visited the night before, settling down for something to eat. Cassandra cracked two cans of soft drink while Ella grabbed some small tins of beef. Tychus disappeared but returned minutes later with a rabbit in his maw. The girls then peeled off the lids of their lunch.
"Yum." Ella groaned after taking a whiff of the pungent odour.
"Better get used to it," grumbled Cassandra "we're gonna be living like this for a while." She looked over at Tychus who was contently munching on the dead rabbit.
"I don't really feel like eating." Ella moaned after hearing a bone crack.
"Me either." Cassandra agreed, tossing the tin of meat away. Tychus looked at the discarded tins and then started eating its foul smelling contents. The two girls stared at the hungry wolf for a long minute. Shortly after Tychus had finished, Ella grabbed the tin cans and placed them in a small plastic bag. Tychus walked lively to Cassandra then lightly tugged her jeans. She remembered that her leotard was on underneath. She then quickly stripped of her clothing and transformed.
"What is it Tychus?" She asked.
My lady, I overheard you and the vampire say that you needed somewhere to stay. My pack will offer any assistance that you require. Tychus announced proudly.
"Thanks Tychus," Cassandra smiled "I'd love to see the looks on their faces when they see that the alpha brought home a werewolf."
They would be surprised, My Lady, but I am not their leader. It's been a long time since I was called that. He admitted sadly.
"What happened?" She replied, sitting down next to him.
I was the alpha of the pack, two human years ago. I was beaten in the bloodthirst by the current alpha, Xyphos. Normally the alpha would die, but Xyphos and I had a long history. Instead of killing me, he put me down to the omega class; the filth and undesirables of the pack, and made me watch as he ripped the throats out of my mate and children. He told the story as if it was only yesterday. Although faint, Cassandra could just make out tears forming in Tychus's eyes. She lightly grabbed Tychus around the waist and pulled him closer to her, trying her best to comfort him.
"That's horrible, taking out his anger out on your family, who had nothing to do with any of that." Exclaimed Cassandra.
It was my weakness that killed them, my fault. If only I had been stronger. Cried Tychus, tears rolling down the sides of his face.
"I'm so sorry Tychus." Said Cassandra, stroking him lightly.
I am truly blessed to have met you, Lady Cassandra. I only wish that my sons and daughters were so fortunate. Sobbed Tychus. Cassandra continued to stroke him for several moments. She snapped her head up and stopped stroking Tychus.
"You want to get back at that Xyphos creep?" She asked mischievously. Tychus ran a paw over his face then looked at Cassandra.
What do you have in mind? He replied.
"Do you mind working with a vampire?" She wondered.
If she has your trust, she has mine too. He claimed. Cassandra giggled devilishly.

Tychus walked over the threshold of the pack's core territory, walking with his head held high and a fiery determination in his eyes. As he entered the pack's resting place, he felt eveyone's gaze fixate on him. He shrugged them off and waltzed to the main den.
"Alpha Xyphos!" He called out "I bring heartening news!" A large black wolf stepped out of the stone structure and walked menacingly to Tychus.
"What do you bring, scum?" Xyphos demanded.
"An ambassador," He announced proudly "and an avowed enemy of their holiness!" The other wolves looked at each other, either stunned or disbelieving Tychus's words.
"And why would a sacred ambassador want to speak to a lowly piece of trash like you?" Scoffed Xyphos.
"I found her and she accepted me for who I am, and not as an omega." Replied Tychus.
"Prove it." Xyphos snarled. Tychus threw his head back and howled loudly. Several moments passed and no one arrived. Xyphos and several others laughed at Tychus. Tychus growled loudly.
"Silly, silly wolf." Xyphos laughed. He raised a paw and raked it down the left side of Tychus's face. Tychus howled in pain.
"And let that be a reminder for you not to lie about such things again." Xyphos growled.
Wow, Tychus wasn't kidding, a feminine voice called over from next the great tree, behind the beta's resting den I thought he was exaggerating when he said you were a harsh leader but man did you prove me wrong.
"Lady Cassandra, this is the alpha, Xyphos." Introduced Tychus, struggling to stand.
Hi. She said, waving slightly. Xyphos returned his attention to Tychus.
"She graced you? Of all the wolves in this pack, why you?" He growled in Tychus' ear.
"The will of the all-mother or my luck, I don't know." Answered Tychus.
"She is not welcome here. She has been tainted by filth." Xyphos muttered.
I can hear you, ya know! And that's fine if you don't want my blessings, I can just go to the next pack and give them my graces. Threatened Cassandra.
"No, wait!" Xyphos pleaded "you are welcome to stay. Anything you need, we will provide, Ambassador."
That's more like it. And you will also need to provide for my prisoner too. She replied coyly, pulling a bound and gagged vampire from behind the same tree. The vampire resisted a little but she gave way at the sight of the mighty pack.
"Anything, My Lady. You may have the gamma's den as your home." He offered, gesturing to a large stone den.
Thank you. And I want Tychus to be my personal attendant. She smiled lightly.
"Tychus? Would you rather not have an attendant that is more dutiful and more to your tastes?" Xyphos asked.
Tychus will do just fine. Cassandra finished. She walked over to the den with every wolf bowing down before her. Tychus fell in behind her, walking with pride and honour.

"You were so loving the attention." Poked Ella, smiling broadly.
"A little." Cassandra replied. Ella tilted her head slightly. "All right, a lot." They both laughed, enjoying a moment of peace.
"You know, this isn't so bad." Admitted Cassandra, staring up at the star studded sky "First time I've ever seen a night this nice, and even got a place to stay with personal attendants."
"Yeah, one door closes, another one opens, right?" Laughed Ella. Tychus walked up and sat next to the girls with a scar forming on his face.
"How's the scar, tough guy?" Wondered Cassandra.
Stings, but I'll be fine. He admitted.
"Oh well, ladies do love the scars." She joked. Tychus' head shot back then he slowly looked at the ground.
Really? I thought that was just a human joke. Replied Tychus, touching the tender flesh. A she-wolf slowly walked behind Cassandra, Ella and Tychus.
My Lady? The she-wolf asked nervously. Cassandra twisted around to see the lithe young wolf.
"Yes?" Cassandra asked.
The alpha asked if you needed anything. The wolf relayed.
"No, no, it's fine uhh…"
Seryna.
"Seryna, tell the alpha that I don't need anything." Seryna nodded and started to turn to the dens.
I know it's none of my business but why do you allow your prisoners to roam free, My Lady? She asked, turning back.
"The ropes and gag were starting to annoy me," replied Cassandra "besides, she has nowhere to go and she knows it." Seryna nodded, flicking her tail in understanding. She then turned her attention to Tychus.
How are you feeling? She asked him. Tychus' head shot back but quickly regained his composure.
All right. He answered A bit surprised though, you talking to me.
There's not really any law against us talking. Replied Seryna, sitting next to Tychus.
There's a problem for me though, I could get beaten for talking to you. He pointed out.
Won't be that bad, she persuaded I'm barely any better than you are.
You know how Xyphos feels about omega's talking to the upper castes. He fought back.
It's not that bad, I mean, the ambassador is staying with us so he should be in a good mood. Said an unrelenting Seryna. Cassandra turned to Ella.
"Get up; we need to leave these two some space." She ordered. Ella obeyed and the two left for the dens. Tychus and Seryna sat for a long moment of silence.
Sounds like you have no love for him either. Noted Tychus, looking up at the starry void.
I hate him, and so does half of the pack. But there's nothing we can do about it. Admitted Seryna, looking up with Tychus.
Maybe. We should get back. He finished grimly. The two wolves quickly walked back to camp, enjoying the moment they had spent.
*****
"You should be an actor when you finish school." Cassandra joked softly, unfurling the bedrolls. Ella giggled, unfolding two small blankets. Tychus entered shortly afterwards.
"Soooo, how did it go?" Cassandra asked.
Hm? Oh well, she uh, reminds me of my mate. Body and soul. He recalled.
"That's good, isn't it?" She mused.
Yeah, so much that it calls for a change of plans. He beemed.
"What do you two have in mind?" Ella asked sheepishly.
I'll tell you both in the morning. I think you'll love this new plan. Replied Tychus, lying down on a small pile of grass. Ella rolled her eyes and flopped on her bedroll, quickly drifting off to sleep. Cassandra rummaged through her bag, looking for a sleeping pill. She pulled out most of her luggage around her bedroll but found none. She cursed lightly sat down on the soft surface. Seryna appeared at the entrance.
My Lady, it's awfully cold outside and I was wondering if I could sleep here. She said quietly. Cassandra nodded and gestured to an empty grass pile next to Tychus. Seryna walked nervously to the bed but calmly lay down and dozed off. Cassandra looked at the sleeping wolves and then at her bedroll.
"Worth a shot." She muttered. Cassandra curled up like Tychus and Seryna. She yawned and fell into one of the best sleeps she'd ever had.
Isn't that nice of Tychus? Unlike that crabby old house master and that Sarabel. Character and Settings copyright by Nic Stewart (Again, Black Forest is in Germany so I don't own that)
